A batch of 100 upgraded sets of Longquan celadon tableware have been delivered from Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, Zhejiang province, to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

This marks the ware's transition from a debut breakthrough to a stable supply arrangement and further cements Longquan's status as a national porcelain hub.

The collection, produced by Longquan Oujiang Celadon, made its first delivery in April 2025 after over nine months of design and refinement. Its core motif, bamboo, symbolizes resilience and nobility while complementing the classic powder-green glaze of Longquan celadon.

Following nearly a year of use, the Great Hall provided practical feedback: the thick glaze, though praised internationally for its jade-like warmth, created noticeable deviations from original design specifications and reduced the functionality of some items compared to white porcelain.

In response, Oujiang Celadon carried out comprehensive upgrades on more than a dozen key pieces.

Enhancements include a raised divider in serving platters to prevent flavor mingling, a redesigned lidded bowl that remains securely fitted even at a 60-degree tilt, and fine-tuned dimensions for chopsticks, rests, coffee cups, and saucers to improve both usability and appearance.

Moving forward, Longquan plans to promote standardization, digitalization, and branding across the celadon industry, using national banquet criteria to drive the overall upgrading of the production chain.
