SCO forum on green and sustainable development opens in Ningbo
The Green and Sustainable Development Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) opened in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on April 29.
The event brought together policymakers, experts, and industry representatives to explore pathways toward a greener future.
Held under the theme "Advancing the Global Governance Initiative and Promoting SCO Green and Sustainable Development", the forum featured a main session alongside three parallel sub-forums. The event focused on promoting global sustainable development through green cooperation, strengthening biodiversity protection through inclusive governance, and accelerating green transformation through technological innovation.
The forum was jointly hosted by the SCO Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission, China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government.
As the first SCO non-governmental diplomatic event hosted by China this year, the forum is of great significance. It aims to deepen practical cooperation among SCO member states in green development and to promote regional low-carbon transition.
More than 300 participants from China and abroad attended, including government officials from SCO countries, environmental authorities, diplomats, representatives of international organizations, scholars, and business leaders.
