Ningbo University of Finance and Economics (NBUFE) and Bratislava University of Economics and Management (BUEM) celebrated the 10th anniversary of their partnership on June 9.

A highlight of the celebration was the signing of an agreement to establish the Slovakia-China Cultural Communication Center in BUEM. The center will promote Chinese language education, cultural exchange, and comparative studies, while also providing training for employees of Chinese enterprises in Slovakia and internship opportunities in cross-border e-commerce and international trade.

Over the past decade, the two universities have built a comprehensive cooperation network covering student and faculty exchanges, joint research, talent cultivation, and industry-academia collaboration. Since the partnership began, 94 students from NBUFE have participated in exchange programs in Slovakia, while dozens of faculty members from both sides have taken part in overseas teaching and research visits.

The collaboration has expanded through the China-Slovakia Silk Road College, which was unveiled in 2024. The institute has since launched dozens of international research projects, established specialized research platforms, and hosted forums on digital economy and public finance and taxation.

The partnership has also embraced innovation and entrepreneurship. Through initiatives such as the China-Slovakia Youth Entrepreneurship Alliance and cross-border e-commerce internship programs, students from the two universities have gained hands-on experience while helping promote bilateral trade.

From academic exchanges to cultural connections and industry cooperation, the decade-long partnership has become a model for educational collaboration between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
