A shipment of fresh Norwegian salmon arrived at Ningbo Lishe International Airport on the evening of June 15, marking the first import of Norwegian chilled salmon through Ningbo's airport port.

The 19-metric-ton shipment was transported aboard a cargo flight from Liege, Belgium. Freshly harvested from Norway's cold waters, the salmon traveled across continents before reaching Ningbo, where customs officials completed inspection and clearance procedures in just one hour.

Known for its delicate texture, rich flavor, and high-quality fat content, Norwegian salmon is a popular ingredient in premium sashimi and fine dining. Because freshness is critical, efficient customs clearance and reliable cold-chain logistics play a vital role in preserving product quality.

To ensure both freshness and food safety, Ningbo Airport Customs worked closely with local border inspection authorities and logistics companies to develop a dedicated clearance plan for chilled aquatic products. Customs officers provided one-on-one guidance to importers, conducted advance document reviews, and opened a special green channel that enables immediate inspection and rapid release upon arrival.

The successful import was further supported by the upgraded Ningbo-Liege cargo route, a key air corridor linking China and Europe. The route provides a faster, more reliable transport channel for premium Nordic seafood.

According to the importer, regular salmon shipments are expected to continue, with monthly imports projected to exceed 200 tons.
