A train carrying hardware products recently departed from Yongkang East Station in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, to Wenzhou Port's Yueqing Bay Port Area for overseas shipment, marking the implementation of a new multimodal customs supervision model in Yongkang, a county-level city in Jinhua.

In response to evolving cross-border trade needs, Yongkang has established a "one station, multiple ports" sea-rail transport system that connects major ports like Ningbo and Wenzhou, creating a direct land-sea route for hardware products from the area to coastal ports.

This year, the China Hardware Logistics Port customs site opened at Yongkang East Station, introducing a new era of "local customs clearance and one-stop export". This new system enables efficient, point-to-point delivery within 10 hours.

Xu Wei, an official at Jinhua Customs' Yongkang office, said the traditional transit model required multiple customs procedures, causing potential delays. The new model allows companies to submit a single application through the international trade "single window", achieving "one-time declaration, one document through", eliminating multiple paper documents and manual verifications, thereby streamlining the process and boosting logistics efficiency.

This approach offers a low-cost, high-efficiency export channel for the hardware industry. According to Cao Zhengtai, operations manager at Yongkang Inland Port International Logistics Co, the new route reduces customs clearance time by over 30 percent and cuts logistics costs per container by about 15 percent.
