Importing vehicles in Zhejiang has become more streamlined following the province's first successful application of China's new "two certificates in one" customs reform.

At Ningbo's Meishan Port, three imported vehicles declared by Zhejiang Zhongda Yuantong International Trade Co recently completed customs procedures and received Zhejiang's first newly formatted Certificate of Imported Goods (Automobiles and Motorcycles) under the new system.

The reform, which took effect nationwide on July 1, merges two previously required documents — the import certificate and the vehicle inspection sheet — into a single certificate.

Previously, importers had to apply for both documents separately after customs clearance. The new certificate consolidates customs, safety and environmental inspection information into one document, allowing companies to complete the process through a single application.

The first Zhejiang case involved three imported vehicles with a combined value of 480,000 yuan ($70,840). According to the importer, the simplified procedure reduces paperwork and shortens processing times, helping vehicles enter the domestic market more quickly. 

The certificate can be used directly for vehicle registration and other related procedures, eliminating duplicate document checks and reducing administrative costs.

Officials say the reform is intended to improve customs efficiency and facilitate trade. For importers, it means faster clearance, lower storage costs and a smoother process from port arrival to final delivery.

The vehicles involved in the first Zhejiang case have now completed customs formalities and entered the domestic sales market.
