Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province is accelerating the development of its high-end equipment manufacturing sector, with advances in intelligent machine tools and robotics helping drive industrial growth.
In the first half of this year, value added by the city's core digital economy manufacturing sector above the designated size — enterprises with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan ($3 million) — rose 23.5 percent year-on-year, while high-tech manufacturing and equipment manufacturing increased 14.6 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively.
One of the city's key strengths lies in high-end CNC machine tools, with the Zhejiang Advanced CNC Machine Tool Technology Innovation Center bringing together more than 220 researchers, establishing joint laboratories with 20 companies, and developing domestically produced cutting tools for carbon fiber composite materials, reducing reliance on imported products.
Taizhou is also expanding its robotics industry through its precision manufacturing base. Yuhuan, a county-level city and a major robotics hub in the city, is home to more than 180 robotics-related companies, forming a supply chain spanning core components, complete machines, system integration, and industrial applications.
By combining its manufacturing expertise with technological innovation, Taizhou is strengthening its position in high-end equipment manufacturing while expanding into emerging industries such as intelligent robotics.
