Huzhou in Zhejiang province reported steady economic growth in the first half of this year, with its GDP reaching 223.42 billion yuan ($33.10 billion), up 5.7 percent year-on-year.

The value added of the primary industry rose 5.2 percent to 8.21 billion yuan, while that of the secondary industry increased 7.1 percent to 105.94 billion yuan. The tertiary industry's value added reached 109.27 billion yuan, up 4.3 percent.

Value-added industrial output from industrial enterprises above the designated size — those with annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan — increased 10.8 percent year-on-year to 76.45 billion yuan.

Among the city's 33 major industrial sectors, 24 posted growth. Value-added output in automobile manufacturing rose by 36.2 percent, followed by computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing at 24.8 percent and general equipment manufacturing at 11 percent.

Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 91.63 billion yuan.

Per capita disposable income of all residents reached 40,625 yuan, up 5.7 percent year-on-year. Urban residents' per capita disposable income stood at 46,153 yuan, up 5.2 percent, while rural residents' per capita disposable income reached 31,394 yuan, up 5.9 percent. The ratio of urban to rural residents' per capita disposable income narrowed to 1.47.
