Jiaxing Port in Zhejiang province has imported more than 40,000 metric tons of fresh fruit since its comprehensive designated supervision site for imported agricultural products received customs approval in February 2025.

A shipment of bananas completed customs clearance on July 31 at the Zhejiang Zhongrun comprehensive designated supervision site after inspection by Jiaxing Customs, bringing the port's cumulative fresh fruit imports to 674 shipments totaling 41,300 tons.

The facility has ended Jiaxing's previous reliance on other ports for importing cold-chain agricultural products. In April 2025, the port received its first shipment of Vietnamese green bananas, marking the start of direct fresh fruit imports. In March this year, Jiaxing Port handled its first shipment of Cambodian fresh bananas, further strengthening agricultural trade links with ASEAN countries.

Fruit imports have grown rapidly, with the port handling 33,300 tons from January to July this year, already exceeding last year's total volume.

To enhance efficiency and guarantee food safety, Jiaxing Customs has introduced measures including advance declarations, conditional cargo release, and faster inspection procedures. It has also established specialized inspection teams to strengthen risk assessment and monitoring of food safety indicators such as pesticide residues and heavy metals.
