ChinaOne.Ningbo completed the 2026 M32 North American Championship in Newport, Rhode Island, on Aug 16, as the Chinese team continued its preparations for the M32 World Championship later this season.

Held from Aug 14 to 16, the championship brought together 10 M32 teams from countries and regions including the United States, Sweden, and the British Virgin Islands. The M32 is a World Sailing-certified one-design high-performance catamaran class, with identical boat specifications putting the focus on crew coordination, tactics, and race execution. 

ChinaOne.Ningbo was led by helmsman Paul Campbell James, with Chinese sailor Liu Ming returning to the lineup alongside experienced M32 sailors Will Tiller and Garth Ellingham. Lewis Brake and young sailor Jake Liddell were among the new additions.

The team arrived in Newport on Aug 10 and began training immediately, using the days before the race to adapt to local wind and wave conditions and refine its boat handling and teamwork.

The North American Championship was also a valuable test against a strong international fleet, including several teams that have claimed M32 titles this season.

ChinaOne.Ningbo, the only Asian team in the M32 fleet, finished third at the 2025 M32 World Championship. With the 2026 world championship scheduled for Sept 28 to Oct 3 in Newport, the team will now turn its focus to the season's main event.
