Zhejiang promotes matcha at Hong Kong tea fair
A promotional event for Zhejiang tea culture was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Aug 13 during the 17th Hong Kong International Tea Fair, with matcha taking center stage.
Hangzhou-based Jingbaiwei Matcha Technology presented matcha with a fineness exceeding 1,000 mesh, with up to 95 percent of the powder remaining suspended, which the company said helps address the bitterness and preparation difficulties associated with traditional matcha.
Hangzhou Yinquan Tea has more than 1,333 hectares of ecological tea gardens meeting EU standards and a daily grinding capacity of 6,000 kilograms. Hangzhou Jingshan Tea Development showcased an intelligent matcha machine billed as the world's first, capable of preparing several types of matcha drinks at the touch of a button.
The total output value of Zhejiang's full tea industry chain has exceeded 100 billion yuan ($14.83 billion). Zhejiang tea products are sold in nearly 90 countries and regions.
Zhejiang's matcha export volume surged 730 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2026.
