The first batch of 105 kilograms of fresh Beishan yellow peaches from Qingtian county in Lishui, Zhejiang province, has cleared customs in Serbia and is set to enter the local market.
According to Lin Haibo, chairman of Zhejiang Shizhuxia Agricultural Development, this year, the company has received orders from Serbia, Spain, Uganda, Singapore, and other countries.
Beishan town in Qingtian benefits from humid lake air, selenium-rich sandy soil, and significant day-night temperature differences, giving its peaches a sugar content of more than 13 Brix and a fine, low-fiber texture.
The town is now home to over 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares) of peach orchards, yielding more than 250,000 kilograms of fresh fruit annually worth more than 5 million yuan ($743,794.35). However, the high quality had not been translating into high returns, and the value added remained low for a long time.
Early this year, the town established a skills service team to promote agricultural exports, focusing on peach shipments. Technicians taught bases how to practice standardized planting, harvesting, and testing procedures. After six months, the core planting base passed filing and inspection, officially qualifying for exports.
Lishui Customs provided full-chain support, implementing a prompt inspection and priority certification model and setting up a green channel for perishable agricultural products. As a result, exported peaches can reach overseas tables within just 48 hours of being picked.
