This gold is China's first at this year's world championships, marking the first world title for Asian paddlers in the K4 500m event and the first Olympic‑discipline world championship gold for Zhejiang in canoe sprint.

The championships, running from Aug 26 to 30, are a key points qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, drawing nearly 900 athletes from about 80 nations. The Olympic ranking cycle continues through the end of 2027, making every race a critical battleground for quotas.
