Lishui Airport posts strong summer traffic
Lishui Airport concluded its first summer travel season with robust results. Over the 62-day period, the airport handled 944 flights and over 112,000 passenger trips, with a flight punctuality rate of 93.32 percent. The single-day passenger throughput hit new records five times, peaking at 2,761 passengers.
To cope with the surge, the airport rolled out detailed passenger care protocols. For unaccompanied minors — 579 such children were served during the summer — the airport introduced special wristbands clearly showing each child's name and flight details, enabling quick identification throughout check-in, waiting, transit, and boarding.
Dedicated service pouches allowed children to pass through millimeter-wave security without taking out items, and a designated waiting area with children's books helped ease their anxiety.
For urgent travelers, the airport installed bright red priority bins and moved the identification checkpoint forward. A mascot doll was positioned at the explosion-proof screening area for urgent passengers to carry, serving as a visible marker that allows staff to quickly identify and assist them. Pick-up and return points for the dolls were also streamlined to improve efficiency.
In addition, a volunteer-led herbal tea stand offered free cooling drinks at three stations in the terminal basement, departure hall, and fire station, serving passengers and staff during the hot summer.
