In November 2023, China announced an initiative to invite 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and study over the following five years. More than 20 students from Muscatine High School in Iowa visited China in January 2024, becoming the first group of US middle school students to take part in the program.

This summer, another group of young Americans from Muscatine and other parts of the United States visited Quzhou, Zhejiang province, where they toured a clean energy power company and the Memorial Hall to the Doolittle Raid in Quzhou.

Alex Rosenzweig, a student at Northwestern University, said he was impressed by the pace of China's development and efficiency.

Giovanni Ocampo, a graduate of Muscatine High School, said the visit to the Doolittle Raid memorial was the most memorable part of the trip and described it as meaningful.

After visiting the memorial hall, Arun Brahma, also a student at Northwestern University, said the visit gave him a strong impression of the goodwill of the Chinese people and the importance of cooperation and friendship between China and the United States.
