Ningbo is hosting the 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue from Nov 2 to 5, offering an opportunity to showcase how its port economy, advanced manufacturing, and cultural heritage shape its approach to international cooperation.

Held under the theme "Openness and Connectivity for Shared Opportunities", the dialogue brings together mayors and representatives from cities worldwide to discuss port development, industrial upgrading, and sustainable growth.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has been the world's busiest port by cargo throughput for 17 consecutive years, connecting the city with more than 700 ports in over 200 countries and regions. Beyond shipping, Ningbo has a strong manufacturing base, with 119 companies recognized by the Chinese government for their leading positions in specialized manufacturing sectors — the highest number among Chinese cities for eight consecutive years. The city is also home to more than 10,000 high-tech companies.

At Meishan Port Area, an integrated wind, solar, and energy storage system supplies more than 75 percent of the area's electricity needs and reduces annual carbon emissions by over 15,600 metric tons, creating greener industrial growth.

The city's international connections also have deep cultural roots. As a historic port along the ancient Maritime Silk Road, Ningbo has long been a hub for trade and cultural exchange. Today, programs such as the Ningbo and the World: A Thousand Enterprises Set Sail exhibition introduce the region's traditions and heritage to overseas communities through local businesses operating internationally.

For Ningbo, the 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue is an opportunity to share its development experience, learn from other cities, and explore practical avenues for international cooperation.
