Jinhua Polytechnic, located in Jinhua city in East China's Zhejiang province, was founded in 1994 and approved by the Ministry of Education in 1998.

The school is on a site covering 1.56 million square meters, with fixed assets worth a total of 1.73 billion yuan.

The school has 11 secondary colleges and one affiliated hospital, with 55 degree majors on offer. It currently has more than 23,000 full-time students and over 1,000 teachers.

It has reportedly paid great importance to the integration of vocational education with industry and has established 13 school-enterprise integrated platforms – undertaking joint programs with the likes of Huawei, Pfizer, Huadong Medicine and other leading groups.

The school also actively carries out international educational exchanges and other forms of cooperation. It is a member unit of the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics, the Luban Workshop Construction Alliance, as well as the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Vocational Education Industry Education Alliance.

The school has also established long-term relations with universities and educational institutions in 40 countries and regions. Over the past five years, the university has enrolled more than 1,000 international students from more than 60 countries and sent out more than 500 students to study or practice abroad.

In cooperation with the Waikato Institute of Technology in New Zealand, the school established the Jinhua Polytechnic Waikato International College, which offers six majors including computer science, applied electronics, electrical automation and art and design.

In addition, the school has rolled out four international cooperative education programs in nursing, accounting, hotel management, as well as sports operations and management.

In 2017, the school set up a branch in Africa, in the Musanze district in the Northern Province of Rwanda, which includes a technical skills development center and a Chinese language learning center.

It has become the largest vocational and technical training center in Rwanda's Northern Province.
