The Jimingshan future community service terminal debuted on Aug 9 on Zheliban – an online government service platform launched by Zhejiang's authorities – becoming the first future community to access it – the Zhejiang Daily reported.

The notion driving the future community project – which featured in the provincial government's report in 2019 – is the concept of an enlightened urban development project that aims to make cities more people-oriented, environmentally friendly and digital.

The Jimingshan future community is in the Jiangdong sub-district of Yiwu – a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province – with a total population of 29,000 people.

That includes more than 2,000 ethnic minority people and over 1,300 overseas personnel from 74 countries and regions.

Aimed at overseas personnel, ethnic minorities, entrepreneurs in the community, the future community service terminal has 15 functions.

They feature applications for mediation of foreign-related disputes and job recruitment, as well as subsidy applications for housing and employment.

Zhejiang plans to build some 100 pilot future communities this year and implement the project throughout the province by the end of next year.
