The city of Jinhua – located in East China's Zhejiang province – held a construction commencement ceremony for 33 projects totaling 43.4 billion yuan ($6.7 billion) on Aug 13.

This event took place against the background of the province's push to develop itself as a demonstration zone for achieving common prosperity, the city government authorities reported.

Themed on "common prosperity", the projects are aimed at narrowing the gap between regions, between urban and rural areas and between incomes.

There were four infrastructure projects, 17 public well-being projects and 12 industrial transformation and upgrading projects, respectively accounting for 12 percent, 52 percent and 36 percent of the total investment spend.

In terms of the investment scale, two projects will cost over 5 billion yuan each, four projects will cost between 2-5 billion yuan and five projects between 1-2 billion yuan. One third of the projects will cost over 1 billion yuan.
