The city of Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province, one of the five co-host cities of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 – to be held on Sept 10-25 next year in Hangzhou, capital of the province – is gearing up to improve its green transportation infrastructure.

There are reportedly more than 180 bus routes and more than 1,100 buses currently in the urban area, of which 73.33 percent are clean energy vehicles.

At present, its annual volume of bus passengers ranks it fifth in the province – while the on-time schedule rate for its urban public transportation last year reached 90 percent and the satisfaction rate of bus passengers was 96.9 percent, ranking it first in the province.

As an important part of public transportation, there are 625 public bicycle stations in the urban area, with a total fleet of 13,000 bicycles. The maximum daily rental volume of bikes has reached 50,000 riders and the cumulative volume of rentals has exceeded 60 million times.

Buses running in the urban areas of co-host cities during the Games are required to be clean energy vehicles. As a result, by the end of 2021 all buses entering the main urban areas of Jinhua will be clean energy models.

Reports are that Jinhua's urban areas will continue to increase the number of internet rental bikes and the number of parking spots will be expanded from the current 1,200 to 2,000. In addition, the distance between these spots and bus stations, as well as rail transit stations, will be kept within 100 meters.
