A direct flight was launched on Nov 1 between Yiwu – a county-level city administered by Jinhua, in East China's Zhejiang province – and Bazhong, a prefecture-level city located in Southwest China's Sichuan province.

The Yiwu-Bazhong-Urumqi flight, being operated by China Southern Airlines, runs twice weekly. It leaves Yiwu at 4:10 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, arriving in Bazhong at 7 pm and Urumqi at 11:35 pm.

It departs Urumqi at 9:05 am on Tuesdays and Fridays, arriving in Bazhong at 12:35 am and Yiwu at 3:45 pm.

"We are going to Bazhong mainly to recruit about 200 to 300 people," said Qian Youyue, human resources manager of Harmony Core (Yiwu) Photoelectric Technology Co Ltd, while waiting for the plane.

"After the opening of the new flight, we can establish a long-term talent relationship with Bazhong," Qian added.

The existing transport links between Yiwu and Bazhong were challenging, requiring a detour by plane to places like Chengdu or Chongqing and there were no direct high-speed trains.

It is expected that the new direct service between the two destinations will strongly promote exchanges in personnel, commerce and trade and culture.
