Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province will establish, renovate or upgrade 50 pocket parks and small green squares in the city this year.
A pocket park is a small green area of less than 10,000 square meters that features garden landscapes and recreational and exercise facilities.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Jinhua issued plans to actively develop green areas while focusing on wetlands, heritage parks, ecological forest belts and forest shelter belts in order to improve people's living environment.
A small natural, semi-natural or cultivated area will be used for recreational purposes.
With investment totaling 5 million yuan ($749,006.32), a new pocket park will be built at the northwest corner of the intersection of Shuanglong North Street and Jiefang West Road. The 7,996-square-meter area will be developed from a parking lot.
In addition, a 6,280-square-meter park located at the intersection of Jinlong Road and West Second Ring South Road will be rebuilt to allow for more grass.
