Zhejiang Yongkang Shizhu Provincial Wetland Park, the first provincial wetland park in Yongkang, a county-level city of Jinhua, was recently opened free of charge.
The park features Nanxi stream, Lixi stream, breeding ponds along the streams, mountains and forests. With an investment of 82.79 million yuan ($11.93 million), the park covers about 1,181.48 hectares, including 93.9 hectares of various kinds of wetlands, accounting for about 50 percent of the total area.
The park is made up of five functional areas: an ecological conservation area, restoration and reconstruction area, publicity and education exhibition area, rational utilization area and management service area.
A tourist service center and two monitoring stations will be built in the management service area, covering about 456.38 square meters.

The publicity and education exhibition area, rational utilization area, and management service area are already ready to open. The new garden path measures about 5 kilometers in length, passing three resting places such as waterside pavilions, seven above-water platforms, 22,000 square meters of ecological floating islands, and 108,000 square meters of microbial carriers, aiming to develop the park into a place with ecological beauty and rich flora and fauna.
Workers from the management department said that further work on wetland restoration and greening will be carried out to improve the park.
