Sept 10 this year is the fifteenth day of the eighth month in lunar calendar, or Mid-Autumn Day. It is a traditional Chinese festival when families get together, eat mooncakes and look at the moon.

In the traditional farming calendar, farmers harvest in autumn. In ancient times, people danced and drank to celebrate a successful harvest. Our ancestors worshipped nature. Emperors used to offer sacrifices to the sun in spring and to the moon in autumn. Weather-wise, at this time of the year, the air is neither humid nor dry, but fresh, and the sky is clear. The large full moon seems too lovely to pass up.

Here are some recommended places to appreciate the fullest and most beautiful moon on Mid-Autumn Day.

Bayong Tower

Facing the Wujiang River, Bayong Tower stands on a stone platform with more than 100 stone stairs. It is an ideal place to admire the moon while feeling the charm of traditional culture in the thousand-year-old building.

Yanweizhou Park

Located in Jinyi New District, the Yanweizhou Park is a popular place to walk after dinner. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, people can admire the moon while enjoying a light show with ornate fountains.

Hengdian World Studios

A super moon with a diameter of 10 meters inside Hengdian World Studios makes it a great place to take a night tour during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. With over 3,000 paper lanterns and water lanterns, the scenic area will make visitors feel like they have traveled back in time.
