Jinhua to host forum on China-Africa cooperation

The 2022 China (Zhejiang) Forum on China-Africa Economic and Trade Relations and China-Africa Cultural Cooperation and Exchange Week will be held in Jinhua, Zhejiang province on Nov 21, according to local media outlets.

Approved by the State Council, the 2022 China (Zhejiang) Forum on China-Africa Economic and Trade Relations has been upgraded to a provincial cooperation project. It will be co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and Zhejiang Provincial Government.

Officials noted that it will be the first major foreign event with Africa after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang province and is an important communciation platform with Africa.

Ruan Ganghui, deputy mayor of Jinhua, said that the event will focus on cultural exchanges, business cooperation, personnel training, and academic research, with a call for further cooperation between China and Africa.

The event will include a total of 20 activities, including two main activities - the opening ceremony and the 2022 annual meeting of the Chinese Council of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In the upcoming week, a slew of events will be held, including symposiums, forums, cultural exchange activities and exhibitions on topics ranging from offshore taxation and industrial cooperation to cross-border e-commerce and vocational education.

The 2022 annual meeting of the Chinese Council of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which will be included in the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, will be held in Jinhua in December this year.

In recent years, Zhejiang-Africa cooperation has gradually expanded from economic, trade and cultural exchanges to digital economy and e-commerce. In the first three quarters of this year, foreign trade between Zhejiang province and Africa increased by 22.1 percent yearly to 249.57 billion yuan ($35.9 billion).
