Construction started on the Computer Museum in Hengdian town, Dongyang, a county-level city of Jinhua on Dec 18.

The project was signed into effect by the local government of Dongyang and the China Computer Federation on Dec 17, 2021.

The museum will cover an area of 120 mu (8 hectares) with a total construction area of more than 60,000 square meters. It is expected to be the world's largest computer-themed museum.

The construction plan was provided by Liu Xiaoguang, who is also the designer of the China Film Museum and Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, and his team.

According to blueprints, the Computer Museum will be made up of three halls focusing on the history, popular science and future of computers.

The hall of history will display objects related to the history of computer development and showcase the history of computer development in China and the world. It is expected to become an authoritative and comprehensive database of computer development history.

The hall of popular science will be built using the construction method of science and technology museums. It will make use of multimedia and interactive experience technologies to share the principles and mysteries of computers, offercomputer-related popular science education, and display the high-tech computer innovation achievements from various leading enterprises.

The future hall will create an immersive experience of a future world. It will display computer technologies that are being researched and developed and have not yet been put into commercial use, allowing the audience to experience possible future scenarios.

The first phase of the museum will open in 2024.
