11th Huxi Cultural Art Week kicks off

The opening ceremony of the 11th Huxi Cultural Art Week was held in Huxi town in Dongyang, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on May 8.

More than 70 performances related to the town's intangible cultural heritage items and sketches in dialects were staged during the event.

The town, entitled "the hometown of Chinese folk art", has in recent years been tapping into its cultural resources such as wood-carving techniques and martial arts to boost the in-depth integration of culture and tourism.

The town is also making efforts to develop related industries such as homestay, agritourism, film and TV tourism, and study tours to drive its rural vitalization endeavors.

The town is currently home to more than 100 art societies and 3,000 art workers and has staged more than 1,000 performances.
