The first Yiting ceramics festival was held in Gangyao village in Yiting town, Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 4, with a parallel session hosted at Yiwu's Hangchou Primary School.

Five activities, including a ceramics competition, fairs, an exhibition of pottery works made by students, and a forum on ceramics, were held during the festival.

Three national intangible cultural heritage practitioners were invited to deliver speeches on ceramics at the festival, with tourists saying that the lectures helped them gain a better understanding of China's ceramics culture.

The event is intended to showcase the village's ceramics culture that has a history of more than 1,000 years. It is part of efforts to preserve the traditional culture and teach children about art, said a local official.
