The Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe from Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, was invited to stage performances in Eritrea from Sept 11 to 12 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Eritrea.
More than 1,000 people including 10 ministers from Eritrea, diplomatic envoys, media personnel and cultural professionals watched the performances.
Zemede, director of the Eritrean Ministry of Culture and Sports, expressed his gratitude for the troupe's excellent performances and added his hope that more cultural exchanges will be held in the future.
Dai Demao, the acting counselor of the Embassy of China in Eritrea, expressed his hope that the troupe will strengthen cooperation with the country's Ministry of Culture and Sports and the local Confucius Institute in an effort to deepen mutual understanding between the two peoples.
