Jinhua's foreign trade sees strong surge in Q1

Jinhua's foreign trade witnessed steady growth in the first quarter of this year, with imports and exports reaching 193.07 billion yuan ($26.66 billion), a year-on-year increase of 14.6 percent, according to Jinhua Customs.

Exports totaled 168.33 billion yuan, a 16.8 percent year-on-year increase.

The city's trade with Africa, Latin America, and the United States amounted to 28.81 billion yuan, 27.93 billion yuan, and 27 billion yuan, respectively, marking impressive increases of 17.6 percent, 23.8 percent, and 32.1 percent.

In the same period, Jinhua's trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 114.02 billion yuan, an 18.1 percent increase.

The export of labor-intensive products reached 62.75 billion yuan, a 25.8 percent increase. Furniture exports grew by 39 percent, while plastic products saw a 31.9 percent increase.

Private enterprises played a substantial role, with their imports and exports reaching 189.99 billion yuan, up 14.6 percent and accounting for 98.4 percent of the city's total trade.

Jinhua's imports amounted to 24.74 billion yuan during the first four months, an uptick of 1.8 percent year-on-year, and agricultural product imports reached 9.58 billion yuan, marking a substantial 54.9 percent increase.
