A chartered flight landed at Yiwu Airport on the afternoon of April 25, carrying over a hundred overseas merchants who had participated in the 137th Canton Fair in Guangzhou.

In response to the challenges of the global economy, Yiwu in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, known as the "World Supermarket", has taken proactive steps to capitalize on the overflow effects of the Canton Fair.

Zhejiang China Commodities City Group from Yiwu journeyed to Guangzhou to invite foreign buyers to explore opportunities in Yiwu. "This is the first group of overseas merchants we've invited and we plan to continue welcoming such groups throughout the year," said Wen Chunyong, deputy general manager of the Exhibition Company of the group.

It has become customary for overseas buyers to flock to Yiwu for procurement during the Canton Fair. "Approximately 10,000 overseas buyers are expected to visit Yiwu during the 137th Canton Fair. In light of the current trade landscape, we proactively invite them and charter flights for them," Wen said.

The delegation, representing 18 countries and regions including Colombia, Venezuela, and Pakistan, consists mostly of first-time visitors to Yiwu. Their primary purchases include daily necessities, hardware, jewelry, clothing, toys, and cosmetics.

They visited the Yiwu International Trade Market for procurement on April 26 and participated in the Yiwu Fashion Jewelry Factory Exhibition on April 27.

Yiwu ensures a seamless experience for the visiting merchants by providing comprehensive support ranging from transportation, accommodation, interpreters, and venues for trade negotiations.

This year, Yiwu will do more to hold various exhibitions and organize local businesses to attend fairs overseas. It will host 56 professional exhibitions and fairs throughout the year.
