Seventeen global e-commerce giants, including Amazon, Tmall and TikTok, along with over 600 local merchants and industry leaders, got together on May 20 in Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, to establish a new digital trade ecosystem.

From May 21, Yiwu International Trade Market will host a seven-day sharing session to equip merchants with cross-platform strategies, leveraging online-offline synergies to boost global sales.

Amid evolving trade dynamics, Yiwu capitalizes on the Chinagoods platform's supply chain advantages and cooperates with global e-commerce platforms to forge a "full-channel" digital trade ecosystem, empowering Chinese manufacturers to expand overseas.

Local businesses have highlighted AI-driven innovation. Fan Yanxiang, owner of Yufan Accessories, showcased her "digital shelf", where AI tailors product pictures and videos to regional preferences, while Sun Min, founder of cosmetics brand Shimeiyi, praised AI-optimized production planning as being "safer and smarter than blind stockpiling".

During the event, several merchants established partnerships with platforms.

Overseas buyers also emphasized the newfound efficiency of AI tools in areas such as helping to source suppliers in minutes and facilitating multilingual trading processes.

Zhou Jian, CEO of the Big Data company of the Zhejiang China Commodities City Group, said, "E-commerce and digital trade are central to Yiwu's future."

The collaboration with the 17 cross-border e-commerce platforms is expected to support Yiwu's merchants and small and medium-sized enterprises in boosting their global reach.

Additionally, Yiwu's Global Digital Trade Center, set to open in October, will further integrate AI, digital infrastructure, and digital "brains" to redefine trade ecosystems.
