Jinhua's Dongyang launches cultural tourism festivities for Dragon Boat Festival

Dongyang, a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, announced a diverse lineup of cultural tourism activities for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday at a news conference on May 27, inviting visitors to experience a holiday rich in culture and local flavor with over 200 immersive activities.

From culinary offerings to nifty handicrafts, key highlights include a food festival at the New Yuanmingyuan Palace in the Hengdian World Studios and hands-on experiences of bamboo weaving and woodcarving at the Luzhai scenic area, as well as folk cultural programs at the Zhejiang Guangsha Vocational and Technical University of Construction.

Coinciding with Children's Day, Dongyang has arranged a bunch of family-friendly activities. Over 30 parent-child events will be offered at six venues including the Dongyang Museum, with zongzi-making contests held at the Tianxiangwan scenic area and other scenic areas, while 10 study tour routes will center around film culture, rural exploration, and other themes to meet the different fancies of families.

The Dragon Boat Race at the New Yuanmingyuan Palace will return from May 31 to June 2, drawing 55 teams and more than 800 participants, including crews from popular film sets. Organizers aim to boost tourism through the competition, expecting over 200,000 visits citywide.

Additionally, Dongyang will offer discounts on scenic area tickets and accommodation for travelers arriving at the Hengdian Railway Station via the Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-speed Railway and at the Dongyangbei Railway Station via the Ningbo-Jinhua Railway.

Ticket holders can enjoy admission discounts at the New Yuanmingyuan Palace (Spring Garden) of 58 yuan ($8.06) with booking and 35 yuan on tickets with selected beverages included at the Luzhai scenic area.
