Sixty boxes of premium Dongkui waxberries from the Xianxiang Waxberry Specialized Cooperative in Majian town, Lanxi — a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province — were airlifted to Hungary via Shanghai Pudong International Airport on June 17 after passing inspection by Jinhua Customs. This marks the first export of Lanxi-grown waxberries to a European Union country.
Known as "China's Hometown of Waxberries", Lanxi has nearly 70,000 mu (over 4,600 hectares) dedicated to cultivating this specialty fruit, yielding around 40,000 metric tons annually. It is the largest production area in west-central Zhejiang.
In recent years, Jinhua Customs has partnered with agriculture departments to implement tailored regulatory support for local planting centers that export fruit, helping expand the global reach of regional produce.
