In June, an Australian trade delegation visited Jinhua, Zhejiang province, to explore business opportunities. They were impressed by the city's strong industrial ecosystem and trade environment.
At the China (Jinhua)-Australia Economic and Trade Conference on June 12, attended by around 120 participants, organizations and enterprises from both sides signed cooperation agreements to deepen resource integration and expand global networks.
Jinhua, a key hub for foreign trade in Zhejiang, reported imports and exports of 411.52 billion yuan ($57.45 billion) from January to May, marking a 19.8 percent year-on-year increase. Trade with Australia reached 14.18 billion yuan last year, with an 11.6 percent increase, and imports rose by 24.8 percent to 7.36 billion yuan.
Jinhua's exports, such as hardware tools, textiles, daily goods, and cosmetics, are popular in Australia, while Australian wine, dairy products, and healthcare items reach China's markets via Jinhua.
During their visit, the delegation toured the Yiwu International Trade Market, the Jinyi Comprehensive Bonded Zone, and Zhejiang Sunseeker Industrial Co. At Sunseeker, they noted innovations like intelligent lawnmowers with anti-collision systems and AI-powered obstacle recognition.
Preliminary statistics show cooperation intent worth 109 million yuan was reached during the visit, covering sectors such as new energy, building materials, and household products.
