A delicacy-themed bus attracted many residents and tourists in Yiwu — a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province — on the evening of July 13.
Renowned as an international trade hub, Yiwu sees thriving nighttime consumption alongside its daytime commerce. A number of night markets and snack streets have become hotspots for regional delicacies.
With around 100 night markets generating annual revenues of nearly 2.9 billion yuan ($404.27 million), these lively blocks spotlight Yiwu's vibrant nightlife culture.
To ignite summer consumption, in early July, Yiwu transformed the No 21 bus into a delicacy-themed shuttle connecting night markets, scenic spots, and shopping clusters.
With fiery orange hues and adorned with Yiwu's cartoon mascot "Hungry Goose" and a gastronomy map on the outside, the bus features the word "delicious" in 20 languages on handrails and introductions of top dishes at each stop on the seat back.
"The shopping malls and night markets on the route of the No 21 bus are all must-see places, so it is the best choice for hanging out and savoring delicacies," said a representative from Yiwu Hengfeng Group, the operator of the bus.
One stop at Xiaozici Community is near Binwang trade zone and Santing Road night market, where there are plenty of Middle Eastern restaurants and bargain goods. Additionally, the Wu'ai Stock commercial street on the route dazzles visitors with abundant apparel, shoes, and suitcases.
