The Zhejiang Provincial City Basketball League, or ZheBA, has entered its second phase — the city championship. Jinhua Team will take on Yuyao Team from Ningbo at the Jinhua Sports Center Gymnasium on Aug 17.
Players were practicing in the gymnasium of Jinhua Sports School on Aug 14, refining their skills through repetitive running and jumping movements.
Since the end of the preliminary round last month, Jinhua Team has adopted an intensive twice-daily training focused on endurance, skills, and teamwork.
"The morning session focuses on shooting and stamina while tactics and confrontation skills are practiced in the afternoon," said coach Liao Jianying.
The team consists of star players from teams across counties, districts, and county-level cities in Jinhua.
Chen Jinwei, the oldest member playing as a guard in the team, said that the systematic training had not only improved his own skills but also boosted the collective adaptability of the newly formed squad.
Liao said players who once dominated shot-taking had embraced redistributed responsibilities because "the goal is winning".
