The Fourth Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine — located in Yiwu county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province — welcomed a delegation of over 20 medical experts and representatives from Zimbabwe on Sept 12.
The delegation included representatives from prominent institutions including the Avenues Clinic and the Baines Intercare Medical Center — key players spanning clinical services, pharmaceutical supply chains, imaging diagnostics, and more.
During the visit, they toured outpatient and inpatient buildings, the respiratory medical center, and the clinical laboratory.
The advanced equipment in the pharmacy and imaging departments, such as an automated drug dispensing robot, a full-process drug traceability system, and the PET-CT facility, particularly impressed the visitors.
Kingsley Mtetwa, chairman of the Baines Intercare Medical Center, praised the integration and application effects of artificial intelligence, as reflected in the use of the robots.
Following the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2023 between the hospital and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Zimbabwe, the visit marked a milestone for the hospital in cooperation in medical care, research, and teaching with Zimbabwe.
Since August, the hospital has cooperated with medical institutions in Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, and Nepal, while providing training opportunities for overseas doctors and students, contributing to medical collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Hospital President Wu Liming said, "Our hospital not only serves residents but also serves as a platform for international medical exchanges." It is working to become a medical technology exchange hub and talent training base for the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
