Jinhua strengthened its cosmetics industry by hosting the Zhejiang Cosmetics Industry Innovation Development Conference on Dec 9.

The event introduced multiple measures aimed at reducing institutional transaction costs for companies and improving customs clearance efficiency.

Zhejiang's pilot reform for import and export facilitation in cosmetics was officially implemented in Jinhua, marking a key step forward in regulatory innovation and international development for the province's cosmetics sector.

As exports from Zhejiang continue to grow, trade facilitation has become increasingly urgent. The Jinhua-based pilot simultaneously launched trials of electronic cosmetic labels, shared experimental resources for export companies, a one-stop registration and filing platform, and green channels for inspection and testing.

The conference also established a cosmetics research center, and appointed industry development advisors to enhance collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutions, aiming to create a national-level cosmetics cluster.

Jinhua is a major global hub for cosmetics production and has prioritized the sector within its life and health industry chain. By the end of September, the city had 437 cosmetics manufacturers, accounting for 63.3 percent of the provincial total, ranking first among prefecture-level cities nationwide.

Product registrations represented over 70 percent of Zhejiang's total, and more than 100,000 market operators were active. From January to October, Jinhua's cosmetics exports reached 7.49 billion yuan ($1.06 billion), up 15.16 percent year-on-year, representing 60.8 percent of the provincial total and maintaining the top position among prefecture-level cities.
