The 5th Forum on the Global Communication of Chinese Cities was held in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on Dec 11.

Nearly 200 delegates, including local publicity officials, think tank experts, and media representatives, gathered to discuss ways to enhance the international communication of Chinese cities.

Xi Yanchun, vice-president of Xinhua News Agency, said in her address that Chinese cities blend tradition with modernity and harmonize economic and cultural development, creating some of the most compelling chapters of the China story. He called for deeper cultural storytelling, the integration of culture and tourism in communication, the creation of multi-dimensional experiential platforms, and the cultivation of international communication talent with strong cross-cultural skills.

Officials from Jinhua, Guangzhou, and Chengdu shared their experiences in international city communication and explored emerging trends.

The forum also released the 2025 Report on the International Communication Influence of Chinese Cities, announced the annual research plan on the international influence of cities, revealed the top 10 annual keywords in the international impact of cities, and issued the forum's initiative to strengthen global communication.
