Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, was the center of attention at China Media Group's 2026 Lantern Festival Gala on March 3, once again taking center stage after having dazzled as a sub-venue of the Spring Festival Gala.
A total of 98 Yiwu businesswomen, alongside Singer Zhou Bichang, delivered a stirring original song themed on the reopening of the Yiwu International Market after Spring Festival, highlighting the dynamic energy of the "World's Supermarket" and the inspiring stories of its entrepreneurs.
These businesswomen, usually busy managing shops and engaging in international trade, graced the stage in elegant attire, with their confident smiles and powerful voices showcasing the spirit and resilience of Yiwu.
Liu Xiangyu, executive director of the Yiwu sub-venue of the Lantern Festival Gala, emphasized the significance of featuring businesswomen as a central theme, saying, "They may have once struggled for a living, yet they always face life with a smile. They may be born in other cities but have rooted themselves in Yiwu, connecting small dreams to the global market."
The gala also featured a variety of commodities from Yiwu, such as "Cry-Cry Horse" dolls, lion dance hats, and AI educational robots, transforming the gala's studio into a microcosm of the Yiwu marketplace. Beyond products, Yiwu's culinary delights, such as brown sugar-made food and Donghe meat pies, were showcased alongside international cuisines.
