The arrival of spring brings blooms to Pujiang county, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, drawing flocks of tourists and kicking off the busy sales season for flower plantations.

"During Spring Festival and International Women's Day, demand for fresh cut flowers was so high that we sold over 100,000 stems daily," said Xue Yong, manager of the Wuhuazhe (Flower Dancer) horticulture base.

Freshness is key in the floral market, as Xue explained their "farm-to-door" model ensures orders are shipped directly and can reach destinations the next day across the Yangtze River Delta region.

From exploring innovative agricultural management in 2017 to establishing the Wuhuazhe Common Prosperity Workshop in 2020, Pujiang has formed a "common prosperity region" combining eight administrative villages.

The initiative applies uniform distribution of seedlings and fertilizers, centralized technical guidance, and unified sales. "The income is tied to production," said Pan Qingxian, a senior agro-technician at the Pujiang county bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.

Flower cultivation now spans over 166 hectares in Pujiang, a 40-fold increase since 2017, with annual revenues surpassing 75 million yuan (about $11 million).

Talent is crucial for industry growth. In 2025, Pujiang attracted 10 young professionals, including three livestreamers, generating daily sales of about 200,000 yuan. Upcoming automation with sorting machines promises to boost efficiency two to threefold.

The Pujiang county bureau of agriculture and rural affairs projects a 30 percent year-on-year increase in leisure agriculture revenue for the first quarter, with the county's strategic focus positioning the floral industry as a key economic driver, transforming seasonal beauty into year-round prosperity for over 2,000 local farmers.
