As the spring planting season progresses, Jinmaitian Seed Industry, located in Changshan township, Wucheng district, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, is experiencing the "technological dividend" of smart agriculture.
As one of the first companies to join the Smart Agriculture Demonstration Park, Jinmaitian has seen technology reshape traditional agriculture. The park's seedling center, which opened in January 2025 and features four connected plastic greenhouses and a glass greenhouse, leads the way in agricultural modernization.
Inside the glass greenhouse, an automated seedling production line efficiently manages each step, from sowing to watering. Trays are automatically moved to logistics beds, where seeds germinate in a controlled 30 C environment.
"In the past, we relied on the weather for a living. Now, data is our resource and mobile phones are farm tools," said Zheng Ye, the company's technology director, showcasing an intelligent control app.
The greenhouses are equipped with advanced monitoring systems that provide real-time data on temperature, humidity, light, and carbon dioxide levels and enable remote management.
A series of facilities, such as vegetable grafting machines and automated fertilization equipment, covers the entire process, reducing labor costs by over 50 percent.
These technologies also benefit local communities, with Panqian village, a regular customer of the park, ordering 400,000 vegetable seedlings this year due to difficulties with winter cultivation at high altitudes. "With this center, we can simply place orders and wait for the seedlings," said Zhang Jun, the village's Party secretary.
From greenhouses to fields, technology is making agriculture smarter, paving the way for common prosperity. As the park evolves, more farmers will benefit from this transformation, helping to vitalize Wucheng's countryside.
