A symposium on the preservation of tea culture and rural prosperity was held on June 13 in Pan'an county, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, with over 200 tea experts, scholars, and industry representatives gathering to discuss the future of tea.

Pan'an shines on Zhejiang's tea map because of the Yushan Ancient Tea Market, China's only surviving ancient tea trading market, dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).

The day before the symposium, the tea farmers' temple fair was celebrated with traditional performances, attracting farmers, merchants, and tourists and helping revive the bustling tea market of thousands of years ago.

Pan'an has transformed tea culture into a productive force for prosperity, developed a protection plan for the Yushan site, restored its architecture, and established a tea culture museum. Its temple fair also received over 30,000 visitors in 2025, significantly boosting local income.

With over 5,600 hectares of tea gardens and an output of 2,900 metric tons, Pan'an's tea industry is thriving, as companies innovate beyond traditional tea sales by exploring new products and cultural and creative brands.

The county has also hosted several mountain biking competitions, where participants chase the wind in the tea mountains while enjoying beautiful scenery.

Pan'an's tea hills are unlocking new possibilities, breaking traditional boundaries of tea production and trade, and enhancing its reputation as a center for both tea culture and mountain sports.
