Jinhua in Zhejiang province saw its GDP reach 366.7 billion yuan ($54.19 billion) in the first half of the year, a 6.2 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Jinhua statistics bureau on July 23.
The added value of the primary industry was 7.2 billion yuan, up 5.4 percent; that of the secondary industry hit 137.4 billion yuan, up 6.6 percent; and that of the tertiary industry rose to 222.1 billion yuan, up 6.1 percent.
Agriculture maintained stable growth, with a 5.4 percent increase in added value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery.
Industrial production also improved, with a 7.9 percent growth in added value of industries above the designated size (with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan). Among 33 major industries, 25 experienced growth.
The service sector grew steadily, with wholesale and retail, finance, and transportation, warehousing, and postal services increasing by 6.8 percent, 7.3 percent, and 8.3 percent, respectively.
Consumer markets continued to recover, driven by trade-in policies. Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 242.2 billion yuan, up 3.9 percent. Notably, sales of communication equipment and of home appliances and audio-visual equipment surged by 123.8 percent and 184.2 percent, respectively.
Foreign trade expanded rapidly, with a total trade volume of 604.1 billion yuan, up 18.8 percent. Steady fiscal and income growth, with rural incomes outpacing urban, highlighted the economic trends.
