Pujiang county in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, will celebrate the China Painting and Calligraphy Art Week from Sept 29 to Oct 18, reinforcing its status as the "Hometown of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy" and boosting the industry's cultural and economic vitality.
This year's art week includes 44 events across five categories: exhibitions, industry activities, rural art events, academic exchanges, and cultural activities. This multi-venue, urban-rural integrated approach will showcase Pujiang's rich artistic heritage and the dynamic nature of its industry.
Key highlights include the traditional Wannian Pujiang — Chinese Painting Exhibition and a new national integrity-themed calligraphy exhibition. Additionally, exhibitions of renowned artists' works will feature masterpieces from modern and contemporary masters alongside innovative pieces from Pujiang's emerging artists, fostering the development of local talent.
To make art more accessible, the event will integrate culture and tourism during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7. Art students from eight universities will engage with Dongjie historical and cultural district, connecting professional art with market demand and infusing the area with youthful energy.
Meanwhile, art villages will host five themed activities and 11 private venues will offer unique exhibitions. Tea art and furniture settings will be integrated into calligraphy and painting exhibitions to create immersive spaces, blending art with daily life.
During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, Dongjie will also launch an ethnic clothes fashion show, immersive drama, bench dragon parade, and other engaging activities.
