Union county has a great strategic and commercial geographical location in the northeastern part of the state of New Jersey in the United States and belongs to the New York metropolitan area, being only a half-hour drive from the city.

The county government seat is Elizabeth city, which has other 21 cities under its jurisdiction. The port of Elizabeth, known as the container capital of the US, is the largest deep-water container shipping terminal on the East Coast.

Union county is one of New Jersey's most important commercial and industrial centers, home to a number of leading corporate headquarters. It has 161 middle schools and one university providing high-quality education. The medical support facilities in the county are said to be at advanced levels.
