Ruian, a county-level city – administered by Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province – has a new resort that boasts 100,000 mu (6,667 hectares) of pastoral scenes and features an appealing range of attractions that integrate agriculture, tourism and cultural displays.

The resort is located on the eastern coastal plain of Ruian – close to the central urban area – and it has settled on sweeping wetland fields.

It encompasses a 5,000-meter wooden-plank road, a 38-meter-high observation tower, a field viewing platform, a 6.7-hectare demonstration farm, 12.5 hectares of vegetable and flower fields and two resting places.

During the weeklong National Day holiday on Oct 1-7, the resort received more than 10,000 visitors per day, becoming a popular photo spot.

"The scenery here is really beautiful and makes me feel relaxed," said visitor Wu Xiulin.

"It used to be a farmland and it is so different now after having been landscaped," Wu added.

Construction of Phase II, scheduled to be completed in November, will add more greenery and impressive illumination effects.

The plan for the resort also includes a modern agricultural sci-tech service center, an agricultural cultural heritage research center and a cauliflower farming production and supply chain, according to Ye Yiyi, deputy head of a group especially set up for the project.
