Wenzhou export-import sees significant growth

Wenzhou, Zhejiang province realized a year-on-year growth of 8.7 percent in its total volume of foreign trade from January to September, reaching 171.36 billion yuan ($26.84 billion), local media outlets reported.

A total of 9,288 companies - 9,103 private ones, 167 foreign-invested ones, and 18 State-owned ones - have contributed to foreign trade.

The private sectors generated 161.45 billion yuan in foreign trade, contributing to 86 percent and 96.6 percent of the city's export and import growth respectively.

Exports to the United States and Latin American countries also grew 31.3 and 38.6 percent respectively. In terms of imports, those from ASEAN countries, South Korea, Latin America, and Central and Eastern Europe also rose significantly.

With the export of mechanical and electrical products maintained steady growth, that of life science technology and rolled steel surged 36.5 and 62.6 percent respectively.

Wenzhou's imports in the first three quarters, which were mainly ferroalloy, consumptions, mechanical and electrical products, and new high-tech products, also rose.
