An epidemic prevention code that combines the functions of checking an individual's health code and travel destinations in past 14 days was put into use at the Wenzhou South Railway Station on Nov 1, local media outlets reported.

Wenzhou became the first city in East China's Zhejiang province to use the program.

Passengers arriving in Wenzhou can first scan the epidemic prevention code, letting the program automatically determine whether they have traveled to medium- and high-risk areas. Their information will be immediately uploaded to the gate machines at the railway station. Because of this new program, travelers no longer have to show their health codes and travel itinerary to staff, and can simply scan their ID cards before leaving the station.

Statistics show that 31,913 passengers used the program between 10 am on Nov 1 to 4 pm on Nov 2, with 123 of them identified as having traveled to medium- and high-risk areas.
